The Plant Disease Diagnostics Laboratory at EFC Plants provides comprehensive diagnostic services for the detection of plant pests and diseases affecting a wide range of crops.

Our specialized technical team has extensive experience in real-time PCR analysis and method development, working with diverse plant and crop materials. We are committed to delivering accurate, reliable, and timely diagnostic solutions that support the agricultural sector in Egypt and across Africa.

The EFC Plant Pathology Lab is proud to be the first and only certified laboratory in Egypt and Africa authorized to perform Real-Time PCR testing for potato bacterial diseases.

The laboratory is accredited to ISO/IEC 17025:2017 for plant disease diagnostic services, including the detection of the following pathogens:

Bacterial Diseases (Potato):

• Detection of Pectobacterium carotovorum

• Detection of Pectobacterium atrosepticum

• Detection of Dickeya spp.

Viral Diseases (Potato – Minitubers, Tissue, or Tubers):

• Potato Leafroll Virus (PLRV)

• Potato Virus S (PVS)

• Potato Virus X (PVX)

• Potato Virus Y (PVY)
